Yearly Vehicle Inspections Could Be Eliminated

Getting an annual vehicle inspection in Louisiana could become a thing of the past!

Republican Representative Larry Bagly of Northwest Louisiana argues with House bill 546, that vehicle inspection stickers do not promote safety. Bagly’s bill would add a $10 dollar fee for a one-year inspection to the price of registering a vehicle. He went on to say that fee could fund 150 state troopers who’s responsibility would be enforcing vehicle safety standards.

The proposed bill wouldn’t apply to commercial vehicles like 18 wheelers and school buses. The bill cleared the House Transportation Committee Monday by an 8-6 vote.
