The folks over at YouTube have decided to push back from its original idea of providing original programming.
Six years ago YouTube had plans to take on Amazon, Hulu, and other streamers, but now the company is abandoning those plans. However, the company says it will still focus its effort on its Black Voices and YouTube Kids Funds monetarily and by algorithmically promoting the content.
Despite garnering 2 billion monthly users the company has failed to become an original programming destination for viewers. Critics of the recently abandoned plan have accused the company of actively working against the original creators that made the platform popular.
As part of the changes, the head of originals, Susanne Daniels, will be resigning effective March 1.

Business chief Robert Kyncl has revealed that YouTube is shrinking its Originals program. From now on, the unit will only finance projects that are part of its Black Voices and YouTube Kids Funds.
