DESCRIPTION:Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Parks\, Arts\, Recreation\, and Culture (PARC) Department is proud to continue its Therapeutic Recreation Program\, designed to provide inclusive recreational and leisure activities for post-secondary teens and adults of all ages with disabilities. \nFrom August through May\, participants can enjoy a variety of free activities tailored to promote fitness\, creativity\, social interaction\, and community engagement at Girard Park (500 Girard Park Drive\, Lafayette). \nCurrent Therapeutic Recreation offerings include: \n\nPark Pacers Walking Program: An inclusive walking group for individuals with disabilities\, meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the Girard Park Walking Track. No registration is required—just show up and join the fun!\nFun & Fitness: An accessible\, supportive exercise class focused on improving fitness\, balance\, and flexibility. Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30–11:30 a.m. in the Girard Park Recreation Center’s Cypress Room.\nArts & Crafts: A monthly creative workshop with seasonal and holiday themes\, often featuring edible art. Space is limited\, so RSVP by calling or texting 337-344-9349. Each week is custom-crafted for age and language in order to provide skill-level appropriate demonstrations and hands-on craft opportunities for your camper! \nSummer Camp dates for 2026:\nWeek 1: English; Ages 5 – 8: June 15 – 19 \nWeek 2: English; Ages 9 – 12: June 22 – 26 \nWeek 3: French; Ages 5 – 8: July 6 – 10 \nWeek 4: French; Ages 9 – 12: July 13 – 17 \nCamp will start every morning at 8:45 AM (morning drop-off begins at 8:30 AM) and end at 4 PM. Friday we will finish at 1:30 PM\, following the family lunch and end of camp ceremony. We will also provide the campers with breakfast\, lunch\, and an afternoon snack from our restaurant\, La Cuisine de Maman. \nThis summer camp is designed for children between the ages 5-12. All campers are required to have completed kindergarten or a home-school equivalent. Throughout the week\, campers will learn about the many things that make Acadiana so unique!
