Lafayette Consolidated Government's Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Culture (PARC) Department is proud to continue its Therapeutic Recreation Program, designed to provide inclusive recreational and leisure activities for post-secondary teens and adults of all ages with disabilities. From August through May, participants can enjoy a variety of free activities tailored to promote fitness, creativity, social interaction, and community engagement at Girard Park (500 Girard Park Drive, Lafayette). Current Therapeutic Recreation offerings include: Park Pacers Walking Program: An inclusive walking group for individuals with disabilities, meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the Girard Park Walking Track. No registration is required—just show up and join the

Catholic Charities of Acadiana will hold a free volunteer disaster training Saturday, February 7th in Breaux Bridge with Mass @ 8:00 am and Training at 8:45am Catholic Charities of Acadiana will host a disaster response training session at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, starting with Mass at 8:00am and breakfast and training immediately following in the Borel Center - 204 N. Literary, Musical and Visual Workshop
The Opelousas Museum is offering workshops in visual, literary, and musical arts in February and March. The workshops will draw on the current exhibit for inspiration. Where We Live: Opelousas Neighborhoods features residents' images and words. The classes provide an opportunity to engage more closely with the images and the concept of neighborhood identity. All events are free and include refreshments. The Parada of the Krewe of Rio has become the premier Mardi Gras event in Acadiana known for its colorful floats, dazzling lights and dancers and the huge amount of beads, throws and custom maracas rolls February 7th in Lafayette at 6:30 p.m.

Courir de Mardi Gras – Vermilionville
Come out to Vermilionville to experience a traditional Mardi Gras run Sunday, February 8, 2026! The whole family can participate in this interactive event where the Basile Mardi Gras Association shares in the medieval tradition of the Courir de Mardi Gras. Disguised revelers, led by Le Capitaine and singing La Chanson de Mardi Gras will make their way through the historic village begging for the ingredients to make a gumbo. Jambalaya Fundraiser for C.A.S.H.
A pork and sausage jambalaya with white beans sale to benefit Crowley Accessibility Support for the Handicap will be Wednesday, February 25 with pick at the Rice Festival Building from 10:30-1. Tickets are $12. Proceeds go toward Project: Play Without Limits the building of an ADA compliant playground at Levy Park in Crowley for children who have special needs.
