President Biden Holds Speech Criticizing ‘MAGA Republicans’ as Threats to Democracy

President Joe Biden issued a speech Thursday evening, claiming equality and democracy are under assault by ‘MAGA Republicans’.

The President’s speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia centered around criticizing a part of the Republican party and voters who support former President Donald Trump.  In days leading up to the speech, President Biden said Republicans are embracing “semi-fascism.”

In his speech entitled “Soul of the Nation,” Biden said,

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent extremism that threatens the very foundation of our Republic.”

“MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of the law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election.”

The President suggested that the upcoming elections are a battle for the ‘soul of the nation’ and urged Americans to vote.

In the Republican party’s response to the President’s speech, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Biden should “apologize for slandering tens of millions of Americans as ‘fascists.'”

Trump’s responded with a series of posts on his social media platform Truth Social in which he said the President “must be insane or suffering from late stage dementia.

“Someone should explain to Joe Biden, slowly but passionately, that MAGA means, as powerfully as mere words can get, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote in one of the posts. “If he doesn’t want to Make America Great Again, which through words, action, and thought, he doesn’t, then he certainly should not be representing the United States of America!” – Donald J. Trump (Truth Social)
