Chief Dale Thibodeaux of the Church Point Police officer shared sad news early Saturday that a longtime Reserve Police Officer with his department passed away after a long battle with cancer.

“It is with our deepest sympathies that I must inform everyone that we lost one of our last night. Reserve Officer Lawrence Vallier has passed away from a long battle with cancer. Reserve Officer Vallier was with the Church Point Police Reserve for over 20 years and was currently an active member. Mr. Vallier was always there to assist at football games and every special event where he was needed. Mr. Vallier, even in his time of sickness at the beginning, came meet me and volunteered to work school traffic at Church Point Middle School until he was not able to do it due to his failing health. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to his family and friends to get them through this time of sorrow. Thank you, Reserve Officer Lawrence Vallier for your service and dedication to our community and to the Church Point Police Department. Rest my friend, as we will tow the Thin Blue Line from here you will be greatly missed my friend and brother in blue.”
